Sarah Michelle Gellar Biography
On April 14, 1977 Sarah Anne Michelle Gellar was born to parents Rosellen and Arthur Gellar in New York City. Her parents later split up in 1984 and she was raised by her mother. Her father was found dead in his apartment in October 2001.

Sarah began her acting career when she was discovered by a talent agent as she sat eating in a restaurant (as you do, you know). She was recruited for a TV movie named Invasion of Privacy – she was only 4 years old at the time.

Sarah also scored several advertising deals including one for Burger King which was the first advert where one company claimed to out-do its competition. McDonalds not been happy did what all corporations do when they have a problem – sued everyone in sight including Sarah, still only 4 years old.

Her next film role was in Over the Brooklyn Bridge. However Sarah continued to work in adverts, providing a stronger income for her. It was here that her parents split up, which clearly had a large affect on Sarah with her hating even the mention of him. Each side has a different story.

Sarah attended Columbia Grammer and Preparatory School. Not liking the company though she later switched to the Professional’s Children School who’s students included Tara Reid and Macaulay Culkin. She also took up figure skating.

Sarah had several minor roles in film before getting a part in Crossbow which was filmed in Europe. The film failed pretty miserably and unfortunately her next rolls were also in less than brilliant films.

She then moved into TV having roles in a Woman Named Jackie and Swans Crossing. She was then offered a part on All My Children. The show earned her a Daytime Emmy award in 1994 and two years later, winning an award. Just prior to this though, Sarah had announced she would be leaving the show.

After having turned down at part in Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet due to other commitments, Sarah moved to LA to work in movies once again. Work was a little lacking until she went in and read for the part of Cordelia in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Of course she ended up with the lead roll.

The series was hugely popular (and still is!) and catapulted Sarah into the world of mass media consumption. In 1999, her massive fan base saw her voted number one in FHM’s yearly 100 sexiest women in the world.

Aside from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sarah also took on movie roles including I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream 2. She starred in romantic comedy Simply Irresistible in 1999 (the one with the magical crab). This was followed by Cruel Intentions where she starred along side Ryan Phillippe.

In 2000 Sarah began to date Freddie Prince Jr and they became engaged a year later. Sarah also had parts in Harvard Man and then in 2002, Scooby-Doo alongside Freddy. The two tied the knot soon after the movie.

In 2003, Buffy the Vampire Slayer ended after 7 series. Sarah began to focus more on movies, starring in Scooby-Doo 2 and The Grudge. 2005 looks just as positive with movies including Richard Kelly’s Southland Tales to feature Sarah - Celeb State.
