Creating your own media kit
If your going to sell advertising from your website you need a media kit. This can range for a page of information to an entire site such as MSN Advantage with hundreds of pages and its own newsletter.
What you need in it
Here's a quick guide to what should be in your media kit:
* Demographs
Advertisers will want to be able to target their campaigns at their user base and therefore will want to know who is going to see their adverts. The easiest way to do this is to run a survay to find out how old they are, what they are interested in, where they live and whether they shop online.
* Site Statistic's
Advertisings will want to know how many visitors your site attracts and how long they spend surfing your site. Server logs and statistic's packages are a good placwe to start especailly if you present them in a graphical format. If you have other things such as newsletter subscribers, list them too.
* Previous campaigns
How have previous campaigns done? Give the advertiser information on click-through ratios, slaes-tovisitor ratios and anything else that is worth noting. Leave out your bad statistics - only produce the figures that are good. Again representing the information with graghics is good.
What you can offer
By now your advertisers should be ready to spend some serious cash. Now you tell them what you can offer.
* Advertising options
This tells the advertiser exactly what you can offer them. Give them as much detail as possible about the various ways they can advertise on your site and be sure to use examples. If your advertising a button they can put in the menu of the page, show them a screenshot of where the button is, and highlight it too.
* Pricing information
A lot of sites don't give pricing information up frount however if every advertiser has to contact you this could create a lot of enquires. Stating the price upfront cuts down on this and means that everyone who contacts you will probably be ready the buy the advertising immediatly.
* Other information
If you have anything else such as testimonials from previous customers (as long as they are good) then add them in here. If you give examples of how similar sites have done well it will encourage advertisers who want the same thing.
Other things to consider
Advertisers may still have futher questions so you should always include contact details. Checking out other media and kits and scoping out the competition is always something else that will reinforce your case. Keep your media kit should be short and to the point and let the clients flow in - CoolForge
